There are always new treatments in regard to alcohol abuse; however no matter what type of procedure is implemented the cure is a long process. The aftercare treatment for a recovering alcoholic is crucial to complete the recovering process. This is the time when it is easy for an individual to “slip back” into old patterns regarding alcohol abuse issues. Michigan, like every other state in America has its share of alcoholics. These troubled individuals can be affected by their alcohol consumption in different degrees of severity. Some people are working alcoholics, where others have hit “rock bottom” where they can’t even hold down a job. Some individuals are still loving parents and/ or spouses, where others are abusers. This is the reason why it is so hard for alcoholics to be detected. Whatever the case, most persons addicted to alcohol will eventually become a detriment to both their families and society, not to mention themselves. This is why it is imperative that these individuals seek help in the early stages of addiction. However, without the alcoholic accepting responsibility, and seeking help on his/her own, the treatment and cure will not be a success.
Michigan is a state that is involved in a lot of tourism and entertainment type of activity. This seems to promote partying, where alcohol abuse is quite frequently encountered. Of course, we can’t blame the tourist industry of Michigan for its alcohol problem, although it is felt to be a partial cause. Some officials feel that the laws pertaining to the selling and drinking of alcohol have been too lenient, although some people will find a way to break the laws and drink, anyway. This is what has occurred with the teenage community within the Michigan borders. They are not of legal age to drink, but find a way to get around the restrictive age limits and defy the laws. Many of these teens have become addicted individuals. Since they are so young, it is imperative that they get help before they completely ruin their lives.
Michigan government officials are dedicated to the “cure” of alcoholics. There are treatment centers where individuals can receive help, counseling, and support from trained and licensed medical professionals. There are also support groups , such as Alcoholics Anonymous, church addiction programs, and online hot – lines to help individuals through the stages of recovery. The after treatment period is a crucial time when addicted individuals need reassurance and added support. Michigan officials know this, and are committed with all phases of recovery, including the after treatment ones.

The state of Michigan is a targeted area for illicit drug activity. Due to its prime location on the Great lakes, many types of street drugs are brought into this area. Other means of transportation via roads, railways, and air also see Michigan in good proximity for the transporting and smuggling of these illicit substances. This is the reason that the substance abuse problems in Michigan are quite active. The drugs that are the most popular in Michigan include marijuana, heroin, cocaine, Oxycontin, and Meth.
The rehab centers in Michigan are well known for their treatment methods. However the accessibility of Michigan’s location makes the drug abuse problems never ending. When one individual completes a rehab program, there are more to take his/her place. Michigan is trying to keep a “cap” on the substance addictions within its state, but this is a strain both financially and economically. State government programs subsidize a lot of drug programs, since insurance agencies do not assist in these problems as much as they do for physical illnesses. Michigan and its Drug Problems

Michigan has been experiencing a problem with drugs for many years. Since this state is located in a perfect place for drug distribution, drug activity has become a “big business” within Michigan’s border. There is much transit activity in Michigan, which makes drug dealing rather easy. In other words, people seem to come and go so much that drug dealers feel that they will go unnoticed here. This is partially true; however, law enforcement teams are carefully monitoring this type of activity. Of course, the dealers are very good at concealing their drug related businesses, so it sometimes takes years to actually break up a large and significant drug ring.
Michigan’s proximity to Canada is a handicap for law enforcement officers, due to the vast international border where it is not too difficult to transport drugs, especially in the isolated spots where there is very little supervision and/ or monitoring of border activity. The reason? Money. Both the United States and Canada do not have the funds, or the manpower to watch every inch of this border 24/7. This makes much of the Canadian border ”wide open” for illegal activities, so, because of this, states that border Canada, such as Michigan suffer greatly.
Michigan also has great access to major U.S highways, as well as waterways, and airways. Trains are also convenient, as are buses. Michigan’s transportation accessibility is good for legitimate businesses, however it is also good for illegal activities, such as drug trafficking. So, taking the good with the bad, Michigan is proud of its growing economy relating to legal enterprises, but at the same time is very worried about its illegal drug businesses.
Law enforcement agencies are working together to more carefully monitors all of those ways where drugs can be transported in and out of the state. Trucks, private aircrafts, boats, as well as cars are being monitored and searched when suspicions arise. State officials are implementing more rigid penalties on those persons who are transporting and dealing in these harmful substances, in hopes that Michigan’s drug problems will be alleviated in the next few years.
